Our Service Goal: Prevention!
Companion Animal Wellness Center’s preventive care starts with exams and consultations that offer time to discuss your dog’s or cat’s lifestyle, potential and/or existing health concerns, and diet. Once you’ve shared all that information with our veterinarians we can make the best recommendations regarding vaccines, parasite prevention (flea, tick, and heartworm), dental care, dietary needs, and exercise that can help avoid health problems from ever developing for your pet.Conveniently located between Poulsbo and Bainbridge Island, we also offer all the routine services such as microchipping, nail trims, anal gland expression, wound care, tick removal, etc. that you would expect at a veterinary clinic. We sell or can special order most prescription veterinary drugs and diets as well.Diagnostics: Should Your Pet Get Tested? At Companion Animal Wellness Center, there are no generic recommendations or cookie cutter plans. Your pet’s care plan is developed individually to meet their specific health needs as well as your philosophical and financial needs. If screening tests are appropriate, they will also be discussed/explained, and a plan developed. Routine pet screening tests may include blood work, urinalysis, blood pressure, tonopen (intraocular pressure), EKG, x-rays, ultrasound, cytology, or a parasite evaluation. Advanced or less common screening tests are available from outside laboratories.Remember, your pet can’t tell us if they are feeling ill or where it hurts. Screenings are often the only means to accurately detect if an issue is developing. Treating a developing problem before it actually affects your pet to the point where symptoms are obvious offers the best chance for your pet to share a long, happy, healthy life with you. When caught early a “treatment” can often be as simple as a change of diet.
When Your Pet Needs Advanced Care
Companion Animal Wellness Center offers a range of medically advanced services which include reproductive and soft tissue (tumor removal) surgery and excellent dentistry (including radiology, cleaning, and extractions). We pride ourselves on being able to offer some chemotherapy options as well, which provides consistency and allows your pet to be treated in the environment they know. Our diagnostic capabilities include digital radiography (x-rays), ultrasound, and general laboratory screenings.

Our doctors continue to be available to discuss recommendations with the specialist and with you following the referral. We work hard to make sure everyone stays on the same page so your buddy receives all the benefits of the specialist’s expertise.Traveling away from the Poulsbo/Bainbridge Island area to a new hospital when your pet is ill can be a very stressful and confusing experience.
